Putto & the Dolphin
This sculpture was based on Veraccio’s Putto and the Dolphin. This was a private commission currently on display in a private Seattle home. The base was cracked and failing. Sunk into the ground. The piping inside was ruined. The original sculpture was knocked off and stolen. Douglas Granum was commissioned to fix and recreate the entire sculpture.

Re-creating a rennasaince masterpiece is a challenging task. More than just a carbon copy of what you see, as an artist I needed to create that same feeling of life that Veraccio brought to his original work. Note the fingers as they press on the dolphin, where a special effort was made to give a real physicality to the sculpture.
